Alfa Laval is set to showcase the impressive capabilities of its Olive Oil Booster system at the XXII International Trade Fair for Olive Oil and Related Industries (Expoliva 2025), occurring from May 14–16 in Jaén, Spain.

This initiative follows a successful collaboration with a client in Coselva, Spain, where they achieved a remarkable 10% increase in yield and a 20% enhancement in phenol content for extra virgin olive oil.

The La Selva Del Camp region of northern Spain, once celebrated for olive oil in ancient Rome, is now embracing cutting-edge innovations in olive oil manufacturing.

As the foremost global event in the olive oil sector, Expoliva serves as the perfect platform to highlight the outstanding results obtained through Alfa Laval’s vacuum-based extraction method. At Coselva, the technology facilitated a 10% increase in the extraction of premium extra virgin olive oil along with a 20% rise in polyphenol content, representing significant progress in both operational efficiency and nutritional quality.

“The results with Coselva demonstrate how innovative processing can enhance both product quality and profitability for olive mills,” stated Álvaro del Río, olive oil manager at Alfa Laval Iberia. “We’re proud to collaborate with customers in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in olive oil extraction.”

With global food demand projected to increase by 70% by 2050, innovation in food manufacturing is essential. Alfa Laval’s technologies aim to maximize the availability of nutritious food while minimizing environmental impact.

The Olive Oil Booster system employs advanced thermal and separation processes—featuring a plate heat exchanger and centrifugal decanter—to enhance performance without disrupting traditional production workflows. When paired with Alfa Laval’s crusher and vertical centrifuge, this system substantially increases both oil yield and antioxidant levels compared to conventional extraction methods.

With a refreshed visual identity, Alfa Laval will occupy Stand 17B, a new 80-square-metre space at this year’s most significant olive oil industry event. Attendees can engage with live demo units of the Foodec Sigma decanter and UVPX413 separator, while Alfa Laval’s experts will be available for consultations and technical discussions throughout the event.
