Aldi is set to unveil new store openings stretching from London to Scotland between Thursday, November 6th, and Friday, December 12th, 2025. This initiative is part of Aldi’s ambitious £650 million UK investment programme.
As the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket, Aldi is channeling this substantial investment into both store openings and refurbishments, enhancing its presence across Britain in 2025.
In addition to this, Aldi recently announced a significant £1.6 billion investment over the next two years, aiming to launch 40 new stores annually.
Notably, Aldi has retained its position as the UK’s cheapest supermarket, as confirmed by recent research from Which?
According to Jonathan Neale, managing director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, “At Aldi, we’re focused on making affordable, high-quality food accessible to as many people as possible – and opening new stores is at the heart of how we do that.”
“Launching 16 new stores in just over five weeks is a significant milestone for our business and a clear demonstration of the pace and ambition behind our growth plans. It means more communities will benefit from Aldi’s value and choice in the weeks ahead and beyond.”
To gear up for the Christmas season, Aldi has initiated a recruitment drive to hire over 4,500 staff members across the UK.
These new recruits will be essential in restocking shelves, assisting customers, and ensuring seamless operations during one of the busiest retail periods of the year.
Furthermore, Aldi has reached out to charities, community groups, and food banks across the UK to encourage them to sign up for surplus food donations this Christmas.
The supermarket collaborates with the community giving platform Neighbourly to donate surplus food year-round. Participating charities will be matched with local Aldi stores, allowing them to collect fresh and chilled food approaching its expiration date. Aldi expects to donate approximately one million meals to those in need during the festive period.
