Sofina Foods is excited to announce its acquisition of Finnebrogue, a highly regarded, family-owned food manufacturer based in County Down, Northern Ireland. This strategic move significantly strengthens Sofina Foods Europe’s position as a leading supplier across the UK and Ireland.

Established in 1999, Finnebrogue has earned a reputation for excellence, producing a diverse range of high-quality products including outdoor-bred pork, sausages, rashers, ham, and a popular line of plant-based alternatives. The company operates four state-of-the-art facilities and employs approximately 1,200 people.

The acquisition enhances Sofina Foods Europe’s substantial operations, which already include being one of the largest processors of pork products across the UK and Ireland, and the largest provider of chilled and frozen seafood in the UK (including the Young’s brand). With Finnebrogue now part of the family, Sofina Foods Europe’s workforce grows to over 9,000 employees across 27 sites.

“This acquisition allows Sofina Foods to continue our journey of ambitious expansion,” stated Michael Latifi, Founder, Chairman and CEO, Sofina Foods. “Both Sofina Foods and Finnebrogue share a common culture of excellence, discipline, and integrity, and I look forward to building on the strengths of both companies.”

Ash Amirahmadi, CEO, Sofina Foods Europe, added, “Finnebrogue is a hugely successful, award-winning business with similar values. We are excited to welcome everyone at Finnebrogue to the Sofina Foods family and draw upon the significant expertise across both businesses.”

Roger Burnley CBE, Chair of Finnebrogue, expressed his delight: “Finnebrogue will continue to flourish as part of the Sofina family, whose purpose-driven values align closely with our own, unlocking new opportunities for our people, our products, and our customers.”

Christine Lynn, Co-founder of Finnebrogue, shared her sentiments: “My late husband Denis and I started Finnebrogue in 1999 with a vision for innovation and making food the best it could be. The time has now come for me to hand over the baton to Sofina, who I know will uphold Denis’s legacy and take Finnebrogue on to its next chapter.”

Finnebrogue’s operations will continue to provide sustainable, high-quality food products, seamlessly complementing Sofina Foods Europe’s extensive distribution network across the UK and Europe.
