Unilever has withdrawn its Pot Noodle Piri Piri Chicken Flavour from sale after identifying undeclared milk in the product.
The recall applies to 90g packs marked with a best-before date of May 2027 and batch code L6232PB796.
Because the product contains milk, it may present a health risk to consumers with a milk allergy or intolerance to milk or milk-derived ingredients.
In a customer notice, a Unilever spokesperson said:
“While milk is listed as a precautionary ‘may contain’ ingredient on the packaging, this could pose a safety risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk.
“We are recalling this batch because the safety of people who buy and use our products is our top priority. We are sorry for any inconvenience and concern.”
The company confirmed that no other Pot Noodle products are affected.
Consumers with a milk allergy or intolerance should not eat the product. Instead, they should return it to the retailer for a full refund or contact the Unilever Consumer Care Line.
The recall highlights the importance of accurate allergen declarations within food and drink packaging and compliance with food and drink regulations. It also reflects wider food and beverage industry trends, including stronger focus on food manufacturing trends, food processing technology, food distribution trends, food and drink industry innovation, food and drink sustainability, food and drink marketing, and changing food and drink consumer trends.
