Three Acre Brewery, an Independent Sussex Brewery, Plans to Double in Size Amid Rising Demand for Craft Ale. Food and Beverage Business

Three Acre Brewery, located in Blackboys near Uckfield, Sussex, is set to acquire a neighboring facility previously operated by another independent brewery. This strategic move enhances its operational capacity within the evolving food and beverage industry trends.

By extending its footprint, the brewery will not only facilitate growth but also increase cold storage capacity, aligning with current food manufacturing trends that prioritize efficiency and expansion.

The company indicated that this expansion arrives at just the “right time” for Three Acre Brewery, which has been evaluating long-term options for growth.

“The expansion will see us more than double our floor space,” stated director Chester Broad. “This is huge news for us, giving us the room to grow output significantly over the mid and long-term, making increased brewing and fermentation capacity possible over time, while enhancing the efficiency and enjoyment of the working day for our team, and enabling new meeting spaces for us, our customers, and our investors.”

Moreover, this transition will yield substantially increased cold storage space for the brewery.

“This expansion will not only accommodate greater volumes of our own beers, but also the combined output of our fledgling wholesale arm Sussex Beer Trader,” noted brewing director Jamie Newton.

The diversification strategy has enabled Three Acre Brewery to broaden its operations by distributing not only its own brews but also those from local breweries to pubs, pub groups, and beer festivals, aligning with emerging food distribution trends.

“This wholesale operation, alongside our brewing, has meant we’ve become a central curator and handler for Sussex and Kent beers, opening up new markets with highly sought-after regional customers,” added Newton.
