The Compleat Food Group, a leading food manufacturer in the UK, has released its 2024/25 ESG Report, highlighting its recent initiatives aimed at minimizing environmental impact, enhancing community support, and optimizing the nutritional quality of its offerings.

A primary focus of the report is the ongoing implementation of the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) program across the Group’s branded products. This strategic initiative identifies opportunities for product reformulation that can diminish environmental impacts related to nature, climate, and health—all while sustaining high product quality. Additionally, insights gained from the LCA have informed the Group’s formal nutritional positioning and the establishment of impactful metrics, which will ultimately guide future product strategies.

Significant advancements in packaging have also taken center stage. The trayless pork pie and slices initiative has successfully eliminated 110 tonnes of plastic annually. Moreover, redesigned quiche and hot pie cartons have contributed to a further reduction of 7.5 tonnes of plastic waste. Furthermore, the adoption of wrinklewall foils for baked goods now features 87% recycled aluminum, resulting in a substantial decrease of 919 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. These improvements align with Compleat’s packaging objectives, particularly its commitment to minimizing single-use plastics.

The Group is committed to promoting nature and biodiversity through its Compleat Nature program. This includes the installation of 13 pollinator monitoring devices across six locations, which helps create wildflower habitats and enhances green spaces for both employees and local ecosystems.

Moreover, the Group’s dedication to social responsibility is evident in its partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, which raised over £100,000 in its inaugural year. The Group has also contributed more than 315,000 meals to FareShare, facilitating the redistribution of surplus food to individuals in need across the nation.

Governance enhancements are notable in this report, particularly the introduction of a new Ethical Management System designed to instill responsible practices throughout the supply chain. Additionally, the Group has reinforced its Responsible Sourcing Code and broadened its European Farm Partnership animal welfare scheme, emphasizing transparency, human rights, and ethical sourcing.

David Moore, ESG Director for The Compleat Food Group, stated:

“This year’s ESG report reflects the values that drive us every day to shape a future-fit food system. More than a set of metrics, it shows how we’ve made real, tangible progress that’s helping to protect our people and planet. From reducing food waste and plastic packaging to supporting biodiversity and improving nutrition, we’re proudly embedding sustainability into every decision we make. Our purpose – making Food to Feel Good – continues to guide us as we grow responsibly and deliver lasting impact.”

The release of this ESG Report coincides with The Compleat Food Group’s recent brand refresh, which aligned its purpose across all aspects and introduced a new visual identity. This updated brand reflects the Group’s ambition to spearhead innovation, integrity, and impact within the UK food industry.
