The Compleat Food Group Acquires Harvey & Brockless: A Strategic Move in the Food Industry

In a significant development within the food manufacturing sector, The Compleat Food Group has successfully acquired Harvey & Brockless, a prominent food producer and distributor. While the financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, this acquisition marks a pivotal expansion for The Compleat Food Group.

Harvey & Brockless, which boasts a workforce of approximately 500 employees, will retain its identity as a distinct brand. It will continue operations under the stewardship of its current management team, which includes Simon Yorke, Nick Martin, and Jonnie Archer. This decision ensures a seamless transition while preserving the essence of the Harvey & Brockless brand.

Founded in 1970 in Hailsham, Sussex, Harvey & Brockless has built a robust reputation as a supplier of high-quality fine foods to the foodservice industry. The company has notably broadened its reach; in 2018, it inaugurated a new facility in the UAE, catering to Emirates and Etihad airlines, in addition to servicing several five-star hotels in the region.

Harvey & Brockless offers an impressive selection of gourmet products, which includes a diverse array of British farmhouse cheeses, Mediterranean deli items from Dell’ami, and a comprehensive range of British cured meats. The company also produces its own unique range of sauces and dips at a specially designed facility located in Evesham, Worcestershire. Furthermore, they provide custom-assembled cheese solutions from their site in Battersea, London.

The Compleat Food Group has expressed its enthusiasm regarding this strategic acquisition. The company anticipates that bringing Harvey & Brockless into its portfolio will significantly enhance its operational capabilities, ultimately benefiting all customers. Additionally, this move is expected to facilitate access to new markets and clientele. According to projections, this acquisition will elevate Compleat’s overall turnover to surpass an impressive £1 billion.

Formed in 2021, The Compleat Food Group operates under the support of PAI Partners, a prominent European private equity firm. Presently, the company employs over 4,600 individuals across 13 facilities. The Compleat Food Group is proud to be the parent company of several well-known brands, including Pork Farms, Wall’s Pastry, unearthed, Vadasz, Squeaky Bean, Wrights, and Palace Culture.

This acquisition is part of The Compleat Food Group’s broader growth strategy, following its recent purchase of both SK Foods and Zorba Foods in early 2024. This latest move demonstrates the company’s commitment to expansion and market diversification.

Nick Field, CEO of The Compleat Food Group, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “We are delighted to welcome this new addition to The Compleat Food Group. Harvey & Brockless has a long heritage and passion for sourcing the best speciality food from across the UK and the globe for its customers, which aligns perfectly with our mission of creating great quality food that people love to eat.”

He added, “The parallels between our two businesses are very strong, and with the fantastic product range of Harvey & Brockless, the acquisition will further extend The Compleat Food Group’s capabilities to the benefit of our existing customers, whilst also opening up new markets and customers for us to delight more consumers through our great tasting food.”

On his part, Nick Martin, the managing director at Harvey & Brockless, remarked, “Since our early days selling cheese to Harrods, we have been committed to supplying the very best food from our network of artisan food producers in formats that are specific to our customers.”

He concluded by stating, “In The Compleat Food Group we have found a partner who shares our passion for great food and will help us to grow and fulfil our future ambitions. I and the rest of the leadership team are looking forward to working with The Compleat Food Group as we continue on the next stage of Harvey & Brockless’ journey.”
