PepsiCo appoints new CEO from Genius Foods CEO, Genius Foods, manager, PepsiCo Food and Beverage Business

On May 22, 2023, Genius Foods announced the appointment of Adam Smart as the new CEO of its gluten-free bakery business. Smart brings with him a wealth of experience having previously served as the general manager of PepsiCo Ireland. His arrival heralds a new chapter for Genius Foods as it seeks to build on its success following the acquisition by Katjes Greenfood and a renewed focus on the UK market.

Smart, who has personal experience with gluten intolerance, expressed his excitement at joining Genius Foods and leading the company on the next stage of its journey. “The entrepreneurial spirit and boldness to become the first quality Gluten Free product on the market was inspirational and I feel very privileged to take the brand, the company and our great employees on the next stage of our journey,” he said.

Smart takes over from Dr Peter Quinn, who successfully led the business through four challenging years. His appointment comes after serving multiple senior commercial and supply chain roles with Diageo in the UK and across Europe. Smart has also chaired the Irish Beverage Council, working with industry colleagues on Brexit, Sugar Tax, and the impending Deposit Return Scheme.

The appointment of Smart is a clear signal of Genius Food’s ambition to continue leading the market with innovative products and solutions for those with gluten intolerance. The company has a strong reputation for providing high-quality gluten-free baked goods, and Smart’s experience and leadership will undoubtedly take it to even greater heights.

With many industries evolving at an unprecedented pace, having a leader like Adam Smart at the helm of Genius Foods gives the company the competitive edge it needs to become an even stronger player in the market. Genius Foods is poised for growth, and Smart’s vision will undoubtedly be the driving force behind its continued success.
