New UK managing director appointed by Arla Foods Arla Foods, managing director, UK Food and Beverage Business

Arla Foods has announced the appointment of a new managing director, following the recent departure of Ash Amirahmadi from the position. Bas Padberg, the current vice-president of Arla Foods Southeast Asia, has been named as the new managing director and is set to assume his role from executive vice-president of Europe, Peter Giørtz-Carlsen, starting on January 1, 2024.

Padberg has been with the company since 2014, when he joined from Royal Friesland Campina and became managing director of Arla’s business in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Under his leadership, this branch of the business became the fastest growing branded market in Arla Europe.

Executive vice-president of Europe, Giørtz-Carlsen, said, “I am thrilled that Bas has accepted the opportunity to lead our UK organization. He is a highly trusted leader in Arla with a long track record of building and sustaining a strong people-focused culture. He has a wealth of experience in creating value between our farmers and our strategic customers, which he demonstrated during his tenure leading our Dutch, Belgian and French business.”

The company’s new managing director, Padberg, is enthusiastic about the opportunity to lead Arla Foods, saying, “I am excited to undertake this new challenge and to work with the great team we have in the UK to deliver our long-term strategy and continue to grow the business. I’m confident that with our combined experience and expertise, we can build upon the great work that has already been accomplished and take the company to new heights.”
