On June 3, 2024, Kureha Corporation, a Japanese specialty chemicals and plastics manufacturer, made the solemn announcement of the closure of Krehalon B.V., including its UK branch. Krehalon B.V. UK, a global manufacturer of flexible shrink barrier packaging for the fresh food industry, located in Kingston upon Hull, will cease operations on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, marking the end of a successful 50-year run.

Despite receiving interest from various external parties looking to acquire the UK branch of the business, Kureha Corporation decided to proceed with the closure. The company expressed gratitude towards its suppliers and customers for their unwavering support over the past five decades.

While the news of the closure is disheartening for the entire team at Krehalon B.V. UK, the focus now shifts towards clearing existing stocks and fulfilling pending customer orders before the factory shuts down. Equipment, land, and buildings will be put up for sale, and potential buyers are encouraged to reach out to Krehalon B.V. UK branch manager, Chris Burdall.

In this challenging period, the company remains committed to conducting its operations with transparency and integrity, ensuring a smooth transition for all involved stakeholders. Kureha Corporation expresses its gratitude for the opportunities and partnerships forged over the years, as it looks towards the future with optimism and resilience.
