Alupro has been recognized as a finalist in the Water, Waste & Resource Efficiency category at this year’s edie Awards. This nomination highlights the organization’s commitment to driving the transition towards a more circular packaging economy. Through its advocacy work and initiatives focused on behavioral change, Alupro showcases its leadership in sustainable practices for food and drink packaging.

The judges were particularly impressed with Alupro’s educational campaigns. Over the past 12 months, these initiatives have effectively reached 900,000 households, 39,000 pupils, and 750,000 festival goers.

Organized by Faversham House, the edie Awards honor sustainability leaders across the UK. The winners for all 23 categories will be revealed during a ceremony in central London on March 12.

Tom Giddings, executive director at Alupro, stated: “Being shortlisted in the edie Awards is testament to the innovative, creative, disruptive approach we take in educating the general public about waste management and resource efficiency. Our successful campaigns are proving instrumental in driving a continued national uplift in aluminium packaging recycling volumes across the UK, as well as increasing householder engagement and encouraging best practice behavior.”

Giddings added, “We’re genuinely honored to have made the final and we’re very much looking forward to joining other shortlisted companies at the awards ceremony in March.”

Looking ahead, Alupro aims to amplify its initiatives to identify and overcome barriers that hinder recycling rates, particularly for ‘hard to recycle’ items. This strategic direction is part of a broader goal to enhance circularity for aluminium packaging in the UK and to promote sustainable packaging solutions for food and drink.
