Unifrutti, the Global fruit group, names Mohamed Elsarky as CEO Fresh produce, Refrigerated Food and Beverage Business

Unifrutti Group has named Mohamed Elsarky as the new CEO of the company. Experienced in the food industry, Elsarky has had leadership roles at companies such as Kellogg’s, Pladis Biscuits, and Godiva Chocolatier. At Unifrutti, he will be taking over from the previous interim CEO Simon Bevan and will join as a member of the board of directors. Unifrutti, majority-owned by ADQ, an Abu Dhabi government-backed investment fund, is optimistic about Elsarky’s contribution to their future success.

Gil Adotevi, CEO of food and agriculture at ADQ and chairman of the board of directors of Unifrutti, expressed his delight at welcoming Elsarky and emphasized his confidence in Elsarky’s ability to lead the company through a chapter of growth and achievement.

Founded in 1948, Unifrutti Group specializes in the sale of fresh produce. The company, with more than 14,000 hectares of land across Latin America, South Africa, Europe, and Asia Pacific, employs around 11,000 staff and sells approximately 700,000 tonnes of produce annually.

In 2021, Unifrutti recorded a 2% increase in turnover to $720m, with total investments of nearly $41m for that year.

Moreover, the group also disclosed that EBITDA totaled $78m, with a gross profit margin of 17% and an adjusted EBITDA margin of 11%.
