Peer PMFresh acquires Australia's HS Fresh Food after emerging from administration Fresh produce Food and Beverage Business

In the food and beverage industry, HS Fresh Food Group, an Australian salad supplier, recently underwent administration and has now been acquired by local peer PMFresh. The sale, facilitated by administrators from FTI Consulting, comes after HS Fresh faced tough market conditions leading to its collapse.

Employees of HS Fresh were informed of the sale to PMFresh in meetings held on 9 July. The final number of employees who will be offered future employment under the new ownership is yet to be determined. Transition plans are expected to be finalized by the end of the month.

PMFresh, a national business, is a major player in the Australian market, supplying ready-to-eat salads and fresh convenience foods to various supermarket chains. With over 1,000 employees nationwide, PMFresh also caters to the foodservice and QSR channels.

“The sale process resulted in a number of expressions of interest and non-binding indicative offers being received, but the PMFresh offer was the best offer received,” noted the administrators in a statement to local media outlets.

HS Fresh’s operations span across multiple states in Australia, under brands like Houston’s Farm, Sunfresh, Gourmet Selections, and HS Fresh Farms. PMFresh’s acquisition of HS Fresh Food marks a strategic move within the food and drink business landscape.

PMFresh has yet to provide a statement regarding the acquisition of HS Fresh Food, but it is clear that both companies play integral roles in serving Australian grocers and consumers with high-quality food products.

Overall, the acquisition of HS Fresh Food by PMFresh signifies a notable development in the food and drink industry, showcasing resilience and adaptability in the face of challenging market conditions.
