Grupo Palacios, a Spain-based food group known for chorizo and Spanish omelette, has announced a partnership with US company The Every Co to incorporate a “hen-less egg” into some of its products. The Madrid-based manufacturer, which offers a range of products including fresh tortillas and frozen pastries, is set to utilize the innovative egg alternative in its flagship Spanish omelette products and for future product development.
The Every Egg, created by The Every Co, has primarily been targeted at the high-end foodservice sector in the US. Grupo Palacios, impressed by the taste and versatility of Every Egg, plans to leverage its seamless integration into various dishes while preserving the authentic taste and texture of a high-quality hen egg.
Established in the 1960s as a local butcher’s shop in Albelda de Iregua, La Rioja, Palacios has a turnover exceeding €380m ($407.4m) as of 2023. The company operates 11 production plants in Spain, one in the UK, and another in the US. With distribution in over 50 countries and a workforce of more than 1,000 employees, Grupo Palacios is a prominent player in the food industry.
In 2019, local investor MCH Private Equity and France’s Ardian Co-Investment acquired a majority stake in Grupo Palacios. This strategic move has further strengthened the company’s position in the market.
The Every Co, formerly known as Clara Foods, has garnered support from notable backers such as Brazil-based meat group Minerva, Mexican bakery giant Grupo Bimbo, brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev, and Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway.
