Irish food wholesaler Musgrave Group has acquired local ready-to-eat meal producer Clean Cut Meals to enhance the offerings at its supermarket chains, SuperValu and Centra. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Established in 2015, Galway-based Clean Cut Meals offers a variety of meal plans, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, with a monthly rotating menu. This acquisition will expand the healthy meal options available to SuperValu customers and tap into the rapidly growing market segment.

Luke Hanlon, interim managing director of SuperValu and Centra, emphasized the increasing demand for healthy, tasty, and convenient meal options. The acquisition of Clean Cut Meals will further strengthen their market-leading offerings and cater to the evolving needs of customers across Ireland.

Conor McCallion and Michéal Dyer, co-founders of Clean Cut Meals, described the acquisition as a “significant milestone” for the company. They expressed excitement about the opportunity to reach a broader audience through SuperValu and Centra’s extensive network of 700 stores nationwide.

“Our products, crafted with care in a humble kitchen, will now be enjoyed on tables throughout the country, promoting a healthier lifestyle for all,” they stated in a joint message. Clean Cut Meals, currently employing 20 individuals, anticipates significant growth to meet the demands of supplying SuperValu and Centra’s retail network.

This strategic move aligns with the food and beverage industry trends, catering to the evolving preferences of consumers seeking healthier meal options. The collaboration between Musgrave Group and Clean Cut Meals signifies a commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction in the food and drink business sector.
