Mondelez International and Lotus Bakeries are teaming up to manufacture and sell biscuits in India, focusing on the Lotus Biscoff brand, which contributed 54% to Lotus Bakeries’ global sales revenue last year. Mondelez will produce, market, and distribute Biscoff cookies in India, leveraging its existing production network.

Additionally, the two companies will collaborate to create new products combining Biscoff biscuits with Mondelez’s chocolate brands, such as Cadbury and Milka. These products are set to launch in Europe in 2025, with potential global expansion.

According to a joint statement, this partnership presents growth opportunities in the cookie and chocolate categories, with the possibility of entering new markets and segments. Dirk Van de Put, Mondelez’s chairman and CEO, expressed excitement about expanding the Biscoff brand in India to reach a broader audience.

Lotus Bakeries CEO Jan Boone highlighted the company’s eagerness to work with Mondelez to expand distribution in India and emphasized the significance of adding the Biscoff brand to a leading chocolate company. Lotus Bakeries experienced a 21% increase in global revenue last year, surpassing €1 billion for the first time.

The partnership will see Mondelez manufacture Biscoff biscuits in India with Lotus Bakeries’ secret ingredient mix to protect the Biscoff recipe’s unique taste and texture. Mondelez’s significant investment in the Sri City manufacturing facility in India reflects the company’s commitment to expanding chocolate production capacity in the region.

As both companies continue to grow in the food and beverage industry, their collaboration underscores the importance of strategic partnerships to drive innovation and meet consumer demands. This venture not only strengthens their positions in the market but also sets the stage for further expansion and growth in the future.
