La Doria acquires assets of Pastificio di Martino in another successful deal La Doria Food and Beverage Business

La Doria Group, a prominent Italian food business with a focus on private-label products, has recently made two significant acquisitions in a single week.

The company has successfully negotiated the acquisition of the private-label dry pasta business unit of local manufacturer Pastificio di Martino Gaetano.

In addition to this deal, La Doria will also repurchase the 13% stake held by Pastificio Di Martino in its subsidiary La Doria LDH.

This move follows closely on the heels of La Doria’s previous acquisition of local sauces and pesto business Clas, showcasing the company’s strategic growth initiatives.

Financial details for both transactions have not been publicly disclosed at this time.

With a rich history dating back to 1912 in Gragnano, Pastificio di Martino specializes in the production and distribution of various pasta products under well-known brand names such as Pasta di Martino IGP di Gragnano, Pasta Antonio Amato, and Pastificio dei Campi di Gragnano. The company also supplies products on a private-label basis.

In 2023, La Doria reported revenue of €170m ($183.4m), with approximately 90% of it coming from markets outside of Italy.

As part of the recent acquisition, Giuseppe Di Martino will take on the role of “key pasta advisor” for the La Doria Group, further strengthening the company’s expertise in the pasta segment.

Since 2022, La Doria has been majority-owned by a unit of private-equity firm InvestIndustrial, allowing for strategic investments and expansion opportunities.

Prior to these recent transactions, La Doria acquired 90% of Clas from Equinox and the remaining stake from agri-food business Cominter, showcasing its commitment to growth and diversification.

Established in 1954, La Doria generated €1.23bn in revenue last year, operating across six production plants in Italy. The company specializes in own-label products for major retailers and also owns popular brands such as La Romanella sauces, Cook Italia prepared meals, and Vivi G juices.
