Granarolo reveals new long-term strategic plan Food and Beverage Business

Italy-based dairy major, Granarolo, has unveiled its strategic plan for the years 2024 to 2027. The company plans to make a significant investment of €300m ($316.8m) to achieve substantial growth and increase its turnover during this period. The strategic plan follows a recent capital raise of €160m through the sale of a stake in the business.

Gianpiero Calzolari, President of Granarolo, stated that the company aims to strengthen its presence in the national market by implementing digital transformation and innovation in the product supply chain. Additionally, the company aims to expand its international market positioning and innovate to meet evolving consumer demands.

The strategic plan includes both organic growth objectives and extraordinary operations to enhance the group’s competitive positioning in Italy and abroad. Granarolo spokesperson mentioned that the company plans to develop functional products with a longer shelf life as part of its innovation strategy.

In terms of international growth, Granarolo will focus on European markets and the US. However, the spokesperson did not provide details on specific turnover targets or whether the strategy involves mergers and acquisitions.

Granarolo recently sold a stake in the business, with €100m invested by Italian state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) through the Patrimonio Rilancio national strategic fund. The company now has production sites in several countries, including Italy, France, the UK, Brazil, Germany, New Zealand, and the US.

Granarolo is an Italy-based dairy major known for its milk and cheese production. The company also produces pasta and deli meats. With 14 production sites in Italy and nine in other countries, including France, the UK, Brazil, Germany, New Zealand, and the US, Granarolo represents over 600 milk-producing farmers and distributes its products through 50,000 points of sale.
