Espersen makes investment in ex-Iceland Seafood’s plant in Grimsby, UK Fish & Seafood Food and Beverage Business

Denmark’s Espersen is set to make substantial investments in the UK seafood factory it acquired as part of its purchase of Iceland Seafood International’s local operations last year. The Grimsby site on the east coast of England will undergo upgrades to improve operational efficiency, including the addition of a new cold storage system and integration into Espersen’s ERP software.

In a move to streamline operations, Espersen merged the commercial team at the Grimsby plant with its sales operations in Leeds, West Yorkshire. This integration aims to create a unified and efficient operational framework. However, as part of this restructuring, 15 positions in the production areas at Grimsby are being eliminated to streamline operations.

Since acquiring the Grimsby site, Espersen has appointed Stig Nielsen as the new managing director, replacing Glen Mathews. The company is confident that the planned investments in production, systems, and logistics will lead to a more resilient and successful operation at Grimsby.

Espersen, a Danish seafood company with facilities in several countries, including Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, and Vietnam, primarily supplies private-label white fish and value-added products. The company is committed to enhancing operational efficiency, maintaining high-quality production standards, and job security at the Grimsby site.

With increased investments and resources, Espersen aims to strengthen its presence in the UK market and ensure sustainability for its operations. The company’s dedication to the Grimsby site and its employees underscores its commitment to excellence in the food and beverage industry.
