CJ Foodville, a subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate CJ Group, is making a strategic investment of approximately $47 million to establish a new bakery and food processing facility in the US state of Georgia. This ambitious project is expected to generate around 285 job opportunities and is scheduled for completion in 2025. Once operational, the facility will have the capacity to produce over 19,000 tonnes of food products annually.
In a statement, Tony Hunsoo Ahn, CEO of CJ Foodville’s US operation, expressed, “Based on our strong profitability, we have decided to establish a factory in the US to enhance our production and supply capabilities in response to the expanding scale of the Tous les Jours bakery business. Our ultimate goal is to establish the Tous les Jours brand as a globally cherished bakery brand that transcends borders and captivates palates worldwide.”
CJ Foodville is a renowned foodservice and food processing company that introduced its Tous les Jours bakery brand to the US market in 2004. Presently, the brand has four storefronts in Georgia. Originating in South Korea in 1997, Tous les Jours has become a global success with over 1,650 stores around the world.
With a goal to expand its US presence, CJ Foodville envisions opening 120 Tous les Jours stores by the end of this year and reaching 1,000 stores by 2030. In line with its growth strategy, CJ CheilJedang, the parent company, recently announced a manufacturing contract to cater to the Australian market. Under this agreement, an undisclosed local manufacturer will supply Woolworths, Australia’s largest food retailer.
