Bidcorp UK, a foodservice provider, has recently acquired Northern Bloc Ice Cream. The acquisition includes the trade and assets of the ice-cream maker, known for supplying retail and out-of-home channels such as Waitrose, The Co-op, Ocado, the National Trust, and Wagamama.
Northern Bloc Ice Cream will now join Bidcorp UK’s network of manufacturing businesses, operating under its own brand name. Dirk Mischendahl, managing director at Northern Bloc Ice Cream, expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating, “We are very excited about joining the Bidcorp UK group and having the opportunity to continue the journey we started in 2014, creating great flavours and making ice cream centre of plate.”
Jim Gouldie, supply chain and technical services director at Bidfood UK, welcomed the Northern Bloc team to the Bidcorp UK family, emphasizing their shared passion for providing high-quality products and excellent service.
Bidcorp UK is a subsidiary of the multinational Bidcorp Group, with a strong presence in the on-venue foodservice sector. The group serves over 60,000 customers in the UK and Ireland through brands like Bidfood, Cimandis Foodservice, and Caterfood. Its revenue for the second half of fiscal 2023 showed significant growth, reaching R113.8bn ($6.2bn), a 24% increase year-on-year. In the UK, revenue grew by 21.2% to R28bn.
Northern Bloc Ice Cream is known for its diverse range of frozen desserts, including vegan options, low-sugar varieties for children, and even an ice cream for dogs that supports the Dogs Trust. The company, established in 2014, has quickly gained recognition for its innovative and delicious products.
