Vadasz Aims to Transform the Sauce Industry

Vadasz plans to revolutionise the sauces market

Vadasz is excited to unveil three innovative, nutritious sauces that exemplify the brand’s signature culinary creativity.

By launching a new category of fresh hot sauces, Vadasz introduces Kimchi Ketchup, Hot Pepper Sauce, and Hot Jalapeno Sauce to the market. This new initiative builds on the incredible success of the award-winning brand’s leading fresh super condiments range.

The sauces category has significantly expanded in recent years, with consumers increasingly opting for premium versions of their favorite condiments and sauces. However, many of these products are pasteurized and high in sugar, which can deter health-conscious shoppers.

Recognizing a gap for fresh, flavorful, and healthy options, Vadasz set out to develop a new range that infuses vibrancy and excitement into this category.

The new sauces feature entirely natural ingredients, leveraging the health-preserving qualities of pickling and fermenting while maintaining low sugar content. They also meet the growing consumer demand for fresh flavors and heat, as shoppers seek out unique and diverse sauce options.

Vadasz Kimchi Ketchup (250ml, RRP £4.50 – £4.75) and Vadasz Hot Pepper Sauce (250ml, RRP £4.50 – £4.75) will be available at Waitrose starting September 18th. Meanwhile, Kimchi Ketchup and Vadasz Hot Jalapeno Sauce (250ml, RRP £4.50 – £4.75) will hit Sainsbury’s shelves on September 25th.

While the average bottle of ketchup contains around 78g of sugar, Vadasz Kimchi Ketchup caters to health-conscious consumers by offering a lower-sugar alternative. With less than 2g of sugar, this ketchup is live cultured and naturally fermented, crafted from traditional kimchi ingredients. It enhances dishes like eggs and grilled cheese sandwiches or can be drizzled over fries for an added umami boost.

Capitalizing on the hot sauce trend, Vadasz Hot Pepper Sauce is also live cultured and naturally fermented, made without any added sugar. The recipe features all-natural ingredients such as red pepper, scotch bonnet, ground coriander, nutmeg, and apple cider vinegar, delivering a fresh yet profound heat. It pairs exceptionally well with meals like pho and stir-fries.

Rounding out the trio, Vadasz Hot Jalapeno Sauce is produced via the same cold-brined process utilized in crafting the award-winning Jalapeno Relish and Garlic & Dill Pickles. The chilled nature of the product, combined with cold brining, creates a hot yet sweet sauce distinct from others on the market. It serves as an excellent flavor enhancer for dishes like tacos and lamb kofta kebabs.

Yvonne Adam, chief marketing officer at The Compleat Food Group, home of Vadasz, stated: “Although worth £970m, the ambient sauces category is in volume decline, and all products are pasteurized and high in sugar, which can put off health-conscious shoppers. In comparison, the chilled pickles and kimchi category is seeing incredible growth of +62%. As the no.1 brand in this space, Vadasz is driving most of this growth thanks to its fresh super condiments range that taste delicious and delivers on health benefits.”

“To encourage growth, we recognized the opportunity to infuse this same ethos into the sauces category by offering a range of exciting, punchy flavors with significantly lower sugar content and added nutritional value. We are thrilled to launch this innovative new range, signaling the start of a robust new product development pipeline as we aim to transform other categories within stores next year.”

Kimchi Ketchup, Hot Pepper Sauce, and Hot Jalapeno Sauce expand Vadasz’s lineup of fresh ferments, which includes Kimchi, Super Beet Kimchi, Garlic and Dill Sauerkraut, Pineapple & Turmeric Sauerkraut, as well as Cold Brined Pickles, Red Onion Pickles, Garlic & Dill Pickles, and Hot and Sweet Jalapeño Relish.
