The German dairy powerhouse, Schwarzwaldmilch Group, has officially entered a cheese production agreement with Käserei Bauhofer.
This cooperative venture targets “key functional areas,” initially spotlighting sales, marketing, and production. The emphasis will be on advancing both existing and innovative cheese products under the Schwarzwaldmilch brand.
Andreas Schneider, managing director of Schwarzwaldmilch, remarked: “We want to further expand the Schwarzwaldmilch cheese range and increase the overall cheese sales of the Bauhofer cheese dairy through this cooperation.”
Headquartered in Bodnegg, within the Allgäu region of Württemberg, Käserei Bauhofer specializes in various cheese products, including Allgäu Emmental.
With the capacity to process approximately 65,000 kg of milk daily, this family-run business will produce Schwarzwaldmilch’s four current Black Forest milk cheese offerings.
Additionally, both companies have plans to develop new products, as stated by Schwarzwaldmilch.
Located in Freiburg, Schwarzwaldmilch processes around 700,000 kg of milk each day at its facilities in Freiburg and Offenburg.
Besides cheese, the company’s diverse portfolio features fresh and long-life milk, butter, and protein products.
Schwarzwaldmilch highlighted that 2024 has been marked by “high energy costs, weak exports, and continued consumer reluctance to buy.”
Nonetheless, Schwarzwaldmilch secured sales of €260m ($290.79m), reflecting nearly a 5% growth. The sales volume also saw a 3.5% increase.
“Current economic and political developments make it clear that in the coming years, success will be achieved only by acting with foresight and self-determination, reacting quickly, adapting to new requirements, and operating sustainably,” Schneider noted last month.
