Italpizza has successfully secured financing from several local banks, aiming to enhance production capacity at three of its Italian manufacturing plants.
The financing package, worth €58 million ($65.8 million), was provided by prominent banks including UniCredit, Banco BPM, BPER, and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, with a repayment period spanning ten years.
The financial boost will be directed towards Italpizza’s facilities in Modena, Castelbelforte, and Mortara.
Italpizza’s ambitious investment strategy intends to ramp up total production capacity from approximately 460 million frozen pizzas annually to 575 million by 2028. This production will include both private-label brands and Italpizza’s own offerings.
Furthermore, the company stated that this investment is crucial for fostering “industrial growth and competitive positioning” in both domestic and international markets. It aims to develop a “cutting-edge industrial model” that responds swiftly to market demands while adhering to advanced technological standards.
The project will also encompass the establishment of a logistics hub designed to optimize distribution channels—both locally and internationally—thereby supporting the company’s expansion efforts.
Andrea Bondioli, Managing Director of Italpizza Group, expressed gratitude towards the investing banks, noting their “full confidence in our industrial development plan.”
He further stated: “This financing is part of our group’s broader growth and development strategy. It will enable us to secure financial resources necessary to bolster all planned strategic advancements, with a strong emphasis on research and development.”
Andrea Burchi, UniCredit’s North Central Regional Manager, emphasized: “Supporting companies in our region to develop more competitive and sustainability-conscious businesses accelerates value creation now and in the future for both the production system and the communities.” He acknowledged Italpizza as a key player in the frozen food sector.
Founded in 1991, the Italpizza Group is headquartered in San Donnino, Modena, Italy. The company reports an annual turnover of €430 million, with 60% attributed to overseas sales across 58 markets.
Italpizza operates seven production facilities, five of which specialize in frozen pizza, and employs around 1,800 individuals.
