Nisa stores in Dallam, Ely, and Wigan have recently undergone a remarkable makeover, transforming their exteriors into beautiful green spaces that have captured the attention and admiration of their local communities. As integral parts of these communities, these convenience stores have not only enhanced their own stores but have also added value by creating inviting outdoor areas for their customers.
This initiative, supported by Inch’s Cider and Nisa’s Make a Difference Locally, aims to bring more green spaces to urban areas and promote the significance of caring for the local environment. Three stores with strong connections to their communities were chosen for this exceptional opportunity, with all the transformations successfully completed this month. The response from the selected retailers has been overwhelmingly positive, inspiring other retailers to optimize their own outdoor spaces.
Each Nisa store now boasts a vibrant outdoor area featuring Inch’s Cider planters, complete with built-in benches that provide shoppers with an ideal spot to relax. These planters are designed to showcase an assortment of colorful plants, including apple trees as a tribute to the Inch’s brand. Carefully selected for their low maintenance requirements and compatibility with the stores’ specific lighting conditions, these plants allow busy retailers to make a lasting impact with minimal effort.
To ensure the long-term health and vitality of the plants, each store owner has been provided with a detailed plant-care guide. This comprehensive resource equips them with the necessary information to maintain their green spaces and keep their plants looking vibrant and healthy for an extended period.
The community garden makeover at Nisa, Dallam, one of the participating stores, has been an overwhelming success, leaving customers delighted with the enhanced aesthetic appeal of the store. One customer was even so impressed that they enthusiastically volunteered to care for one of the apple trees from the planters, showcasing the positive impact of this initiative on the local community.
Kate Carroll, Head of Charity & Community at MADL, expressed delight at partnering with Inch’s on this project, firmly believing that these makeovers will make a significant difference locally. Looking forward to the upcoming autumn season, they are excited to witness the growth and development of these outdoor spaces. MADL takes pride in supporting Nisa partners who actively contribute to their communities, and they are thrilled to be associated with this sustainable and impactful undertaking.
Inch’s Cider is committed to sustainability, which is evident both in their products and practices. All Inch’s cider is crafted exclusively from 100% British apples grown within 40 miles of the Hereford Mill. Moreover, any waste generated during production is efficiently converted into biofuel. By creating greener spaces outside their stores, Inch’s not only helps retailers attract more customers but also fosters meaningful social, cultural, and environmental experiences. This aligns perfectly with the ethos of Nisa and the values of MADL, creating a harmonious collaboration focused on sustainable and community-centered initiatives.
