Since partnering with Nisa over ten years ago, CK’s has been actively involved in numerous community initiatives. Local sports clubs, playgroups, and homeless charities have all benefited from the generosity of this established chain, which was founded in 1988 by Christopher Kiley. In addition to supporting local causes, CK’s has also extended its philanthropy to national charities such as the Teenage Cancer Trust, Wales Air Ambulance, and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, who have received funding from MADL over the years.
As part of Nisa’s commitment to giving back to the communities it serves, CK Foodstores has recently made donations to organizations like Stepping Stones Children Centre, Llandeilo Children & Youth Society, and 1st St Davids Rainbows group. These contributions align with MADL’s mission, as it seeks to contribute to local charities and community organizations. To date, MADL has donated over £16 million to support various causes.
To raise funds, CK Foodstores allows sales of all Co-op and Heritage own-label products in Nisa partner stores, with a portion of the proceeds going into a virtual fund that can be donated by retailers. In-store collecting tins and clothing banks are additional avenues for generating funds. The convenience chain, currently operating 35 sites, was initially founded in 1988 with the acquisition of a small store in Llandeilo, Dyfed. Many of these sites now operate under the Nisa fascia.
Kate Carroll, the head of charity at Nisa, recognizes the significant impact that CK Foodstores has had on charitable causes and community groups over the years. Carroll emphasizes the invaluable difference CK’s has made to the lives of many people throughout Wales. MADL looks forward to continuing their partnership with CK’s to further support the community for years to come.
Alun Littlejohns, the director of retail operations at CK Foodstores, acknowledges the privilege of directly contributing to and funding projects in their community. Littlejohns recognizes the pride CK’s, their suppliers, and customers should have in their ability to make a positive impact. The chain actively distributes funding to various causes, tailoring support based on store locations and keeping money within the community. With grants ranging from £250 to £1500, CK’s has already assisted over 30 different groups this year and aims to continue its charitable work.
Overall, CK’s commitment to community involvement and philanthropy demonstrates the business’s dedication to making a positive difference. Through its collaboration with Nisa and extensive support for local and national causes, CK’s continues to contribute to the betterment of society.
