Costs of becoming a member
There is no cost to becoming a member, aside from the minimum weekly spend.
What financial packages or credit terms do we offer?
We offer a customized solution to suit the needs of each business. Our business development managers (BDM) work closely with store owners to determine the most fitting financial packages or credit terms.
Minimum length of contract
The length of our contracts varies between three to five years as per the co-investment agreements.
Do we offer a trading area agreement?
While we do not offer exclusivity, we utilize planning tools to identify the best opportunities and avoid opening additional stores with the same brand in the immediate trading area unless it is requested or permitted by an existing retail partner.
Minimum drop requirement
For Best-one, the minimum weekly spend is £5,000. Each delivery order must amount to a minimum of £1,000, excluding tobacco. In the case of Costcutter, the minimum spend is £7,500 a week. Ambient orders require a minimum of 150 cases, while chilled/frozen orders must be 40 cases (frozen orders require a minimum of 10 cases). Bargain Booze does not require a minimum drop.
Ordering options for retailers
Our IT systems interface with all major electronic points of sale (EPoS) providers. In addition, we offer our own in-house system, CPoS, providing retailers with multiple options for ordering goods.
Number of own-label lines listed
We have the Best-one range and provide access to over 2,000 Co-op own-label products, including the Honest Value range for Costcutter.
Arrangements for fresh produce and chilled/frozen foods
We offer multiple arrangements for fresh produce, chilled, and frozen foods. These options range from central distribution to direct-to-store suppliers, all of which are invoiced centrally for convenience.
Investment in consumer advertising
We support our retailers by offering a comprehensive advertising and marketing package to drive footfall into stores and increase basket spend. Our support is tailored to each store’s promotional offer and type, while our investment covers various platforms including social media, digital, audio, and traditional advertising mediums.
Promotions offered
We refresh promotions every three to four weeks (based on facia) to drive footfall and sales. These promotions are further supported by a wider promotional program managed through our Bestway network of cash and carry depots.
Category management assistance
We provide regular category advice and updates to our customers through our sales teams. This information is also shared on retailers’ office systems and our digital tools. Additionally, we offer core plans for key category areas and planograms to help retailers effectively merchandise specific categories.
Recent and future support measures for retailers
In the past year, we have increased our support for retailers by prioritizing media, social media, and video-on-demand strategies to drive footfall and sales at the local level. We plan to continue introducing additional support measures in the near future.
