Spain’s AG Olives has strategically acquired a stake in Greek table-olive producer Georgoudis to enhance its sourcing and manufacturing capabilities.

Established in 1897, Georgoudis is renowned for producing and exporting high-quality Greek table olives under its prestigious Parthenon brand. This brand is recognized across more than 60 countries.

Georgoudis offers a diverse selection of Mediterranean olive varieties, including Kalamata, Halkidiki, and Conservolea under the Parthenon label.

As part of this strategic partnership, AG Olives plans to integrate Georgoudis’ premium Greek specialty olives into its extensive global product portfolio.

The acquisition details were disclosed in a statement by Georgoudis-Parthenon, although the specific size of the stake purchased was not revealed.

According to the statement, Georgoudis operates two manufacturing plants, with one currently active.

This powerful partnership is labeled a “high-value alliance” aimed at advancing the investment program at the Volos facility. The focus will be on increasing capacity, improving efficiency, and promoting regional development and rural production.

The collaboration is expected to strengthen AG Olives’ global presence in sourcing and manufacturing. It will also enable Georgoudis to leverage its new investor’s logistics network and customer base to tackle new markets successfully.

AG Olives Group CEO, Francisco Escalante, expressed excitement regarding the partnership, stating: “We have found the perfect match, one that values as much as we do the family tradition, sustainability, and the care of their own while innovating and integrating technology with the ambition to improve every day.” He further noted, “Together, we will elevate the olive category worldwide.”

Employing over 800 individuals, AG Olives boasts a production capability exceeding 100,000 tons of olives.

The investment in Georgoudis comes just two years after AG Olives acquired California-based Lindsay Olives manufacturer, Bell-Carter Foods in 2022.

Post-acquisition, Nelos Georgoudis will continue to lead the company. He noted, “This alliance will strengthen our ties with existing customers and expand the Company’s olive category offerings.”

“Our roots are deeply planted in Greece, but our focus has always been to grow globally to support our community and bring our exceptional and renowned Greek olives to tables all over the world.”
