Wylam Sprockets Cycling Club is proud to present Wylam on Wheels, a thrilling cycling event taking place on Sunday 17 September. Designed for cyclists of all abilities, this event offers four different routes to choose from, set against the picturesque backdrop of Tyne Valley.
Cycling enthusiasts can opt for the ‘Couch to 25km’ route, perfect for those looking to challenge themselves or take their first step into distance cycling. For more experienced riders, the ‘Challenger 60km’ route promises a hilly and exhilarating journey. For the most daring cyclists seeking an ultimate test of endurance, the newly introduced ‘Super-Challenger 100km’ route is designed to push their limits.
Participants can rest assured as they embark on these routes, with fully signposted and marshalled paths, and conveniently placed feed stations. In case of any mechanical issues, professional assistance will be available throughout the day.
To capture the excitement of the event, we have included a captivating image showcasing the event’s spirit.
Entry to the cycling event is available at the affordable price of £20 for adults and £5 for children, who must be accompanied by a participating adult.
In addition to the main event, we are delighted to incorporate the Wylam Waggonway, an off-road route accessible to cyclists of all ages and abilities, free of charge. This 6.3km route welcomes all bike types, including adapted bikes for wheelchair users.
After a day of thrilling cycling, participants can indulge in a delightful afternoon tea, accompanied by live music entertainment from the Wild Women of Wylam. The funds raised during this event will go towards supporting the Wylam Jubilee Playing Field, a worthy cause that brings the community together.
Limited spots are still available, and interested individuals can sign up via our website, Wylam on Wheels. Further detailed information about the event can also be found on the website.
Once again, we are proud to announce that Spar, through its partnership with James Hall & Co, will be our sponsor for the second year in a row. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Spar independent retailer Doug Bergstrand, who is generously contributing to the event’s sponsorship.
Sarah Grainger, representing the Wylam Sprockets, expressed her excitement for the upcoming event, highlighting its significance as a community-centered gathering that facilitates both fun and fundraising. With the immense success of last year’s event, which raised thousands of pounds for the playing field, we aim to replicate and surpass that accomplishment this year.
Tom Murphy, the marketing manager at James Hall & Co, shares our enthusiasm and underscores the importance of these events in enhancing community life. Together with Doug Bergstrand, they express their commitment to supporting Wylam on Wheels and ensuring its resounding success.
Join us for an exhilarating day of cycling through stunning scenery, camaraderie, and giving back to the community. Together, let’s make Wylam on Wheels 2023 an outstanding success!
