Syntegon subsidiary Ampack GmbH has a significant reason to celebrate: the company has been manufacturing filling and packaging machines for the dairy and food industry in Königsbrunn, Germany, for half a century. On September 23, Ampack took this opportunity to invite customers, employees, their families, and representatives from politics and the business world to its anniversary celebration in Königsbrunn. “We are proud of 50 years’ worth of successful history and our contribution to the safety of many food products,” said Markus Schlumberger, Managing Director Sales at Ampack. “I am particularly excited about the commitment that our more than 200 employees have shown to our customers for many years. We place great value on this close cooperation and satisfaction – on both sides.”
Achieving Success in Food and Drink Packaging Technology since 1973
About 50 years ago, engineer Siegfried Ammann founded the company under the name Ampack Ammann and began selling packaging machines for dairy products. In 1976, he introduced the first fully automated cup filling and sealing machine. By 1996, Ampack had grown to the point where it needed to construct a new company headquarters at Lechfeldgraben 7 in Königsbrunn. Another significant milestone was achieved in 2012 with the affiliation to Bosch Packaging Technology – now known as Syntegon since 2020 – and the access to an extensive international network.
Ever since its establishment, Ampack has consistently invested in technological development. Today, Ampack specializes in the development of filling and capping machines for preformed cups and bottles, enabling dairies and food manufacturers to securely package liquid and viscous foods while maintaining high standards of hygiene. Additionally, the company supports customers in planning and integrating complete production lines – from filling to secondary packaging and palletizing. What sets Ampack apart is its dedication to continuous improvement. In 2017, the research and development center Technikum was established, covering an area of 450 m². Here, Ampack collaborates with customers to test and develop state-of-the-art equipment, including sterilization processes, sealing or dosing technologies, sustainable packaging solutions, and retrofits for existing machines.
A Customer-Focused Approach
“With our extensive expertise, we provide comprehensive support to our customers – from analysis to commissioning and beyond. This formula ensures our high customer satisfaction,” explains Schlumberger. The installation of more than 1700 machines worldwide is testament to Ampack’s commitment to delivering customer-oriented solutions. Through close collaboration and an application-driven approach to development, Ampack has emerged as a pioneer in aseptic technology in Europe. Today, the company offers customers a broad portfolio of modular machines, catering to various hygiene levels.
In addition to offering flexible production lines that can be efficiently adapted to different products and formats, Ampack understands the importance of sustainability to its customers. In 2021, the company introduced the LFS, suitable for clean and ultra-clean applications. The LFS fills products such as yogurt, dips, and deli salads, complementing the proven FCL filling machine for ultra-clean and aseptic applications. Both machine types incorporate sustainable materials like paper or mono-material, thereby improving the recyclability of the packaging. Ampack remains committed to continuous development, actively working on new, future-proof technologies.
Striving for a Sustainable Future
Ampack’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond technical developments. The company also places great value on the long-term well-being of its staff. “Many employees have dedicated several years to Ampack. We offer a wide range of tasks and opportunities for ongoing professional development. This is highly appreciated by young talents, and we are proud to welcome motivated apprentices from the region every year,” says Dr. Alexander Schmidt, Managing Director of Ampack GmbH in Königsbrunn.
Ampack is also actively involved in the region, supporting the Fritz-Felsenstein-Haus, a competence center for physically and multiply disabled individuals. As part of their commitment, the company organizes an annual Christmas present campaign exclusively for the residents. Dr. Schmidt reiterates, “Our commitment to the region and our employees is of great importance to us, and throughout the next 50 years, we will continue to contribute to a better quality of life.”
