Fastnet Fish, part of the Andrew Marr International group since 2004, has taken over Seafish UK, a company specializing in value-added seafood products.

Located in Hull, a port city in East Yorkshire, Seafish UK offers well-known brands such as Sheltie, Ocean Bistro, and Nanna Carter’s. The company’s product assortment includes fish fingers, bites, breaded fillets, goujons, ready meals, fish cakes, and battered fish.

Seafish UK serves both retail and foodservice sectors and boasts an expansive processing facility of over 85,000 square feet, equipped with three production lines for manufacturing, freezing, and packaging their offerings.

Danny Burton, managing director of Fastnet Group, remarked, “Seafish is a well-run business with significant potential, and we are delighted to welcome them into the Fastnet Group.” He emphasized that operations would continue as normal at Seafish UK, praising their capable team and promising senior-level support throughout their developmental journey.

Details regarding the financial aspects of the acquisition remain undisclosed.

Fastnet Fish operates from Grimsby in Lincolnshire, specializing in supplying both retail and out-of-home clientele as well as food manufacturers. The company’s offerings include fresh and frozen fish, shellfish, and value-added products like breaded fish fingers and fish cakes.

The acquisition sees Fastnet obtaining Seafish UK from its principal shareholder and managing director, Bob Carter, who is retiring after nearly 60 years in the seafood sector.

As per the latest filings with Companies House in London, Seafish UK reported a turnover of £18.2 million ($24.3 million) for the year ending December 31, 2024, an increase from £16.6 million the previous year. Net profits also rose to £458,773 compared to £248,321 during the same period.

Emma Acklam, the sales director of Seafish UK, stated that the company will remain a standalone entity while receiving backing from Andrew Marr International, located in Hessle, East Yorkshire. “This acquisition is a great fit for both companies,” she said, adding, “By combining our expertise and strengths, we can give our customers and suppliers confidence in our ability to deliver top-quality products.”
