Knowles Logistics, a prominent UK-based supply chain specialist serving the food, beverage, and packaging industries, has made a significant investment in co-packing robotics. This move reinforces its dedication to innovation throughout its operations.

The new robot, sourced from the German firm KUKA and tailored by Granta, an automation expert located in Cambridge, is set to greatly improve Knowles’ co-packing abilities. This advanced technology facilitates the flexible repackaging of various food items and packaging styles, accommodating diverse client needs, such as multipacks or customized promotional offerings.

Upon leaving KUKA’s facility, the robot is ready for immediate use, thanks to Granta’s tailored modifications that ensure smooth integration with Knowles’ existing processes. This upgrade allows the company to provide an automated co-packing service that enhances precision, speed, and adaptability for its clientele.

Alex Knowles, the CEO of Knowles Logistics, stated, “This co-pack robot marks an exciting step forward as we continue to embrace automation across our business. It gives us the flexibility to swiftly adjust product configurations to meet evolving customer demands while also boosting efficiency and productivity. This further exemplifies how Knowles is committed to investing in smarter, faster, and more sustainable supply chain solutions.”

This new co-packing system follows a series of recent automation and digital transformation investments within Knowles’ warehousing and order fulfillment operations. Over the past year, the company has introduced autonomous cleaning robots, including the CR700 Robotic Scrubber Dryer and K900 Industrial Vacuum Sweeper Robots, provided by Crescent Industrial’s Cleaning Intelligence brand. These machines operate around the clock, significantly minimizing manual cleaning tasks, thereby allowing team members to concentrate on more valuable operational activities.

Additionally, Knowles has launched inventAIRy XL, an inventory management drone that has transformed its perpetual inventory processes. By automating inventory management, the company can ensure enhanced accuracy and traceability of product movements while markedly increasing cycle counts.

These advancements illustrate Knowles’ ongoing growth and accomplishments. The award-winning company has made substantial investments over the past year, expanding its electric vehicle fleet and further promoting sustainability throughout its operations.

As Knowles Logistics continues to explore additional automation and digital solutions, it aims to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and service excellence in its comprehensive logistics framework within the food and drink industry.
