Maple Leaf Foods Reports EBITDA Growth, but at a Slower Rate Maple Leaf Foods Food and Beverage Business

Canada’s Maple Leaf Foods anticipates an upward trajectory in EBITDA for the upcoming year; however, growth is projected to be slower compared to 2025.

In its annual results, the meat and protein-alternative provider forecasted an adjusted EBITDA of C$520-540 million. Notably, the upper limit suggests a 13% increase over the fiscal year 2025.

Adjusted EBITDA experienced a significant 21% rise in the completed year, reaching C$476 million, while the margin improved by 140 basis points to 12.2%. Revenue growth, complemented by operational discipline and advantages from the ‘Fuel for Growth’ initiative, are expected to drive this EBITDA increase. Nonetheless, anticipated sales revenue for the new fiscal year is forecasted to grow in the mid-single-digit range, a modest rise compared to the 7.7% jump in 2025, which amounted to C$3.91 billion.

Last year, Maple Leaf separated its pork operations into a standalone entity named Canada Packers, focusing efforts on poultry and prepared foods, including its alternative-protein brands Field Roast and Lightlife.

President and CEO Curtis Frank commented, “We are now seeing the tangible benefits of our transformation into a simpler, purpose-driven, protein-centric, brand-led CPG company.” He emphasized the strength of their leading brands, the resilience of growth platforms, and returns from significant capital projects like “Fuel for Growth” as key drivers for margin expansion and improved business consistency.

However, Maple Leaf Foods also acknowledged the persistent challenges posed by macroeconomic factors. These dynamics may significantly influence the operating environment, introducing uncertainty and potential volatility. The implications are wide-ranging, affecting consumer sentiment, supply chain activity, market accessibility, trade barriers, and foreign-exchange rates.
