Mars Pet Nutrition recently announced two key senior appointments within the organization. Helen Warren-Piper, formerly the chief growth officer for Europe, has been promoted to global vice-president of strategic initiatives. In her previous role, Warren-Piper was responsible for the UK Pet Nutrition Business and established a Digital Marketing Centre of Excellence. She will continue to be based in the UK and report to Mars Pet Nutrition global president Ikdeep Singh.
Melodie Nye, who has over ten years of experience working with Mars, will succeed Warren-Piper as the new chief growth officer for Europe. Nye was previously the Mars global innovation lead and is a bold and purpose-driven leader committed to ensuring the company’s brands deliver for pet parents. Mars Pet Nutrition regional president Europe, Deri Watkins, expressed delight at having Nye on the team and thanked Warren-Piper for her contributions to transforming their growth organization in Europe.
In other news, UK Flour Millers has elected Gary Sharkey, the Hovis procurement director, as its new president. Sharkey is a veteran of the grain business and a former president of the European Flour Millers Association. He accepted his nomination at the group’s annual meeting in Cambridge. In his new role, Sharkey recognizes the industry’s critical part in the UK’s food supply and is committed to leading an industry that delivers this crucial service.
Without a doubt, Sharkey’s predecessor, Roger Butler, had a challenging tenure as chair of Whitworth Brothers during his three years in the position. Sharkey commended Butler for ensuring that the industry’s voice was heard throughout various tumultuous events such as Brexit, Covid, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
