At K 2025, TOMRA will showcase an extensive array of solutions aimed at enhancing the circularity of plastics. TOMRA Recycling, TOMRA Feedstock, and TOMRA Collection will provide valuable insights into innovative technologies for the collection, sorting, and fine-sorting of plastics. Additionally, TOMRA Reuse will introduce systems designed for reusable takeaway packaging, tailored for urban settings and events.
“Over the past 50 years, TOMRA has been a provider of solutions for increasing plastics circularity. At K 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for plastics and rubbers, we have decided to present our wide range of solutions and insights together, to showcase the opportunities available for customers and partners looking to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastics in a holistic manner. We welcome everyone to visit our stand to learn more,” states Tove Andersen, President and CEO of TOMRA.
Here’s what to expect at K 2025:
Recycling: Advancing Plastics Circularity
TOMRA’s Recycling division will highlight state-of-the-art sorting technologies that expedite plastic circularity. Featuring the versatile AUTOSORT™ integrated with GAINnext™ AI for complex material recognition, alongside INNOSORT™ FLAKE and AUTOSORT™ FLAKE for superior flake sorting, TOMRA equips recyclers to meet the ever-increasing quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Complementing these solutions, TOMRA Insight’s cloud-based monitoring portal and PolyPerception’s AI-driven material analysis enhance transparency and efficiency in sorting operations.
Lars Enge, TOMRA Recycling’s new EVP and Head, emphasizes, “At K 2025, we’ll demonstrate that sorting is no longer just about recovering and upgrading plastics – it’s about achieving the highest level of material granularity while increasing transparency and digitization in sorting facilities. Our deep learning solutions, cloud-based monitoring, and smart waste analysis are key to making this possible and advancing full plastics circularity.”
Collection: Enhancing Recycling of Beverage Containers
TOMRA Collection will unveil its leading reverse vending technology, which facilitates the recycling of beverage containers and underpins numerous deposit return schemes that encourage container returns.
Featured at the K Show is the flagship TOMRA R1 and T9 with MultiPac Air system, showcasing the TOMRA T9 reverse vending machine, and the multi-feed TOMRA R1 (capable of processing over 100 containers at once instead of individually). Together, these systems efficiently manage large volumes of various materials, enabling high system speeds and increased storage capacity—providing optimal convenience for recyclers and streamlined handling for operators.
TOMRA Horizon: Pioneering Innovations in New Business Areas
TOMRA is also advancing through its corporate ventures TOMRA Feedstock and TOMRA Reuse, initiated to explore new applications of the company’s technology and solutions that promote circular economies and resource efficiency.
TOMRA Feedstock is dedicated to closing the loop for plastics and will soon inaugurate Norway’s national sorting facility, Områ, which is capable of sorting plastics recovered from mixed waste streams into ten mono-fractions suitable for high-grade recycling.
Meanwhile, TOMRA Reuse has been testing a reusable takeaway packaging system in Aarhus since January 2024 and plans to launch a similar program in Lisbon’s historic center this year. Additionally, the team is piloting solutions for large-scale venues and events, recently introducing a collection point for cups, boxes, and bowls.
“TOMRA Horizon is our platform for focused innovation. Reuse and Feedstock are promising ventures where we see significant potential both from an environmental impact perspective and from a commercial perspective. In parallel, we are continuously considering targeted investments to strengthen our ability to lead the resource revolution,” notes Lars Enge, EVP Strategy and Head of TOMRA Horizon.
