At FachPack 2025, taking place from September 23-25 in Nuremberg, Germany, TekniPlex Consumer Products will showcase innovative and sustainable solutions in food and drink packaging. The company, a globally integrated provider of materials science and manufacturing technologies, will feature its ProTecSealsĀ® portfolio of recyclable container liners at Hall 5, Booth #208, underscoring its commitment to sustainability and performance.
The ProTecSealsĀ® series from TekniPlex Consumer Products includes sealing and lining solutions crafted for recyclability, tailored to various material types and regional recycling streams. These cutting-edge solutions empower brands to implement diverse strategies that enhance recycling acceptance while elevating overall sustainability in food and drink packaging. Ideal for a broad spectrum of bottles and jars, many ProTecSealsĀ® solutions are particularly well-suited for personal care products, vitamins, supplements, protein powders, and food and beverages.
A highlight of the ProTecSealsĀ® series is the ePressSeal liner, the first pressure-sensitive seal made with expanded polyethylene (EPE). This innovative product offers increased flexibility and resilience compared to traditional polystyrene (PS) foam, featuring superior compression resistance and enhanced durability that maintains its shape for longer-lasting gasketing properties. Additionally, these lightweight liners are easily removable, making them suitable for dry foods, herbs, spices, and nutritional supplements.
Importantly, ePressSeal is recyclable in regions with an established polyethylene (PE) recycling stream, positioning it as a more sustainable alternative to PS. As noted, PS is specifically targeted by the European Unionās directive on single-use plastics, with several major member nations poised to implement packaging bans in the near future.
Numerous ProTecSealsĀ® solutions have received approval from RecyClass, an EU-based organization that promotes the transition to a circular plastic economy. For instance, the ProTecSealsĀ® TriSeal F217, a polyethylene (PE) variant, is recyclable within the HDPE recycling stream, designed for use with PE closures and containers. Similarly, the polypropylene version, ProTecSealsĀ® PP Foam, aligns with PP closures and containers, ensuring the entire package is recyclable. This mono-material approach not only advances immediate sustainability objectives but also aligns with long-term EU regulatory compliance.
Critically, ProTecSealsĀ® liners do not compromise functionality for sustainability. To guarantee exceptional softness, compression, and leak performance, TekniPlex Consumer Products employs proprietary technology that ensures protective properties and ease of use comparable to conventional, less sustainable liner options.
āLike so many of our solutions, the ProTecSealsĀ® portfolio is inspired by TekniPlexās āSustainability Andā philosophy, which challenges us to prioritize both product performance and eco-friendliness,ā explained Rafael Posada, Global Head – Sustainability and Product Stewardship at TekniPlex. āIn addition to reducing environmental impact, meeting changing consumer demands, and complying with stricter regulations, elements like more recyclable materials, components derived from PCR, reduced product waste, and lightweighting can also lead to cost savings, enhanced brand image, better conservation of resources, and a competitive edge for brands. Combined with our extensive expertise in materials science, our commitment to sustainable initiatives helps us truly stand out in the container liners market.ā
