STI Group is expanding its packaging services for the food industry with the acquisition of two new hygiene certifications. These certifications have been obtained for its Lauterbach packaging site and its new folding carton plant in Rumburk, Czech Republic.
A successful FSSC 22000 certification audit at the company’s Lauterbach headquarters in November 2023 was swiftly followed by EN 15593:2008 hygiene management certification for food packaging production at its Czech plant. This, in addition to its facilities in Kecskemét, Hungary and Alsfeld, enables STI Group to produce packaging for food or direct food contact at four different locations.
STI Group CEO Jakob Rinninger states, “These additional hygiene certifications help to sharpen our profile as a folding carton and corrugated packaging manufacturer in the food sector. Certifying the majority of our sites to international hygiene standards ensures we can better and more efficiently fulfil the growing demand for sustainable food packaging. Changes in the regulatory framework alongside this increasing need for sustainability means our innovative solutions are focusing on recyclable barrier coatings and lightweight materials.”
Quality, hygiene and safety play a central role in all food packaging, but particularly that which comes into direct contact with food. Depending on the application, the right barrier coating can make food-safe packaging grease- and moisture-repellent, and can successfully be used for baked goods, fish, confectionery, fruit and vegetables.
