The Earthfilm Butter-Wrap, using coated papers, offers a recyclable alternative to the commonly used butter-wraps in the food industry. All coatings are water-based barrier coatings, providing the necessary grease and moisture barrier.
Options for Earthfilm Butter-Wrap include standard, Xtra (with moisture barrier on both sides), and metallised film (Ultra) with a higher barrier and a metallised finish. Additionally, the materials can be supplied as lids for butter packed in tubs.
Simon Balderson, managing director at Sirane, expressed his excitement about the Earthfilm range expansion. He stated, “We’re expanding our popular Earthfilm range by adding butter-wraps, which are sustainable, recyclable, and plastic-free. Our Earthfilm Butter-Wrap is exciting news for the butter industry. It’s got all the properties of butter-wraps currently used, but crucially is paper-recyclable. We can even provide metallic gold/silver papers, giving the same aesthetics as the packaging currently used – while still offering a paper-recyclable product.”
The Earthfilm Butter-Wrap offers functionalities of traditional butter-wraps but with the added benefit of being sustainable and recyclable. This development is a significant step in the food and drink sustainability and in meeting consumer trends of environmentally-friendly packaging.
