The new Packaging Development Center Europe incorporates cutting-edge extrusion and finishing technology, as well as advanced quality measurement systems and testing equipment. This facility is set to significantly enhance packaging processability in serial production, system validation, and capacity for future digital technologies. As demand for more sustainable packaging options rises, the center is designed to accelerate the development of packaging formats and materials.

Marcel Schopen, department manager test field, prototype & pilot plant, SIG, emphasized the importance of staying ahead in the fast-paced food and beverage industry, particularly when it comes to packaging innovation. He highlighted the center’s ability to provide end-to-end solutions and support customers with enhanced speed, noting that new packaging solutions and materials can be developed and validated even more efficiently. Additionally, the center’s facilities allow for the production of carton sleeves and the packaging of food and beverage products in line with hygiene regulations.

Gavin Steiner, chief technology officer at SIG, expressed pride in the new Packaging Development Center Europe, highlighting its role in complementing existing facilities and driving breakthrough developments to accelerate speed to market.
