Pact Coffee Introduces New Recyclable Packaging that Supports Plastic Bottle Collection

Pact Coffee Introduces New Recyclable Packaging that Supports Plastic Bottle Collection beverage packaging, Flexible packaging, Food packaging Food and Beverage Business

Pact Coffee is pleased to announce the launch of its innovative new packaging that not only prioritizes sustainability but also supports a meaningful cause. Our brand-new single-material bags are not only 100% recyclable but also made from 70% recycled materials, specifically plastics commonly disposed of in recycling bins. This eco-friendly initiative serves to tackle the global issue of plastic pollution, particularly in Asian rivers by partnering with the ethical recycling program Plastic Bank. For every 1,000,000 bags created, we will collect the equivalent of 53,000 600ml plastic bottles from rivers in the Philippines and Indonesia.

Speaking about this exciting development, Pact Coffee’s CEO, Paul Turton, emphasized the critical need to address climate change’s impact on coffee production. He stated, “If climate change continues at its current trajectory, it’s estimated that we’ll see a significant impact on 75% of Arabica supply, which has already fallen short of demand for the past two years. Plastic pollution significantly reduces ecosystems’ ability to adapt to climate change, so reducing our usage, promoting a circular economy, and funding schemes like ‘this bag saves’ is exactly what we need to do to protect the future of coffee and the planet.”

While some may argue in favor of ‘compostable’ packaging, Pact Coffee has carefully considered the most sustainable option. Research indicates that around 90% of people lack the means to compost at home, and unfortunately, a significant amount of compostable packaging ends up in landfill or disrupts the food recycling process. Therefore, we are confident that our choice of recyclable packaging strikes the perfect balance between sustainability and ensuring Pact Coffee’s trademark freshness.
