Amcor, a leading packaging solutions company, has announced the introduction of its AmFiber Performance Paper packaging. This innovative packaging solution is aimed at American purchasers of confectionery, bars, cookies, cereals, dry beverages, and dry mixes. By utilizing AmFiber Performance Paper, Amcor aims to offer brands an environmentally sustainable packaging option that meets consumers’ growing demand for more eco-friendly packaging.

Amcor’s AmFiber Performance Paper packaging has been prequalified by How2Recycle, ensuring that it complies with the repulpability standards required for curbside recycling. This certification allows brands to provide consumers with packaging that can be easily recycled at the end of its lifecycle. By incorporating this paper-based packaging alternative, brands can achieve their sustainability goals while still meeting the operational performance requirements.

The use of paper-based packaging options has gained popularity among consumers due to the widespread collection and recycling of paper materials. AmFiber Performance Paper not only offers a more sustainable end-of-life solution but also provides a natural look and feel, aligning with consumers’ preferences.

Brian Carvill, Vice President of Research and Development at Amcor Flexibles North America, highlights the benefits of AmFiber Performance Paper. Carvill states, “Brands now have more choices than ever when it comes to packaging their products in formats and materials that attract consumers and meet their sustainability goals, while still achieving the operational performance they require.” Amcor’s dedicated research and development team, coupled with their AmFiber portfolio, allows the transition from plastic to paper packaging to be effortless and advantageous for brands.

AmFiber Performance Paper is a high-barrier laminated paper that meets “widely recyclable” standards and can be recycled in most paper recycling streams. This paper solution offers improved barrier properties and packer efficiency compared to existing coated papers and is free of PVdC (polyvinylidene chloride). The How2Recycle prequalification further validates the recyclability of packaging made from AmFiber Performance Paper, making it easier for consumers to recycle through curbside paper recycling programs.

The versatility of AmFiber Performance Paper enables its application in various formats, including cold-seal flow wrap and three-side seal sachets. This packaging solution can be utilized on existing flexible packaging equipment, achieving machine speeds comparable to plastic-based packaging.

Amcor’s AmFiber portfolio consists of a range of paper-based packaging alternatives that cater to different market segments. This portfolio extends beyond the food industry and includes applications in dairy, produce, meat, poultry, seafood, and ready meals.

Amcor’s introduction of AmFiber Performance Paper packaging provides brands with a sustainable packaging alternative that meets consumer preferences and environmental goals. This innovative solution, backed by How2Recycle prequalification, offers improved performance and recyclability compared to traditional coated papers. By incorporating AmFiber Performance Paper, brands can effectively transition from plastic to paper packaging while maintaining operational efficiency.
