One of the UK’s leading specialist Oriental food manufacturers has achieved significant improvements in its packaging, resulting in an 83% reduction in plastic usage and a 67% cost saving.
When faced with advice from various packaging companies to replace its machinery at a high cost in order to reduce packaging expenses, the company sought an alternative approach. They turned to Lindum Packaging with this challenge.
Rick Sellars, sales manager at Lindum Packaging, explains, “Having invested in core brake machines for its packaging operations, the company wanted to ensure it was using the correct amount of film and achieving the best possible performance from its machinery.”
Through a packaging audit and consultation with the team, Lindum Packaging found that the company was using a 23mu power pre-stretch film that was inefficient for their machines. They recommended switching to a pre-stretched 6mu Carewrap film, resulting in a significant improvement in performance and cost savings.
This adjustment not only allowed the business to achieve its goal of reducing plastic waste, but also led to substantial reductions in packaging costs. Sellars emphasizes, “By taking our advice and simply optimizing their packaging materials, they are now benefitting from some of the best results we’ve ever seen without any additional capital expenditure.”
Founded in 1985, the oriental food specialist supplies meals and components to the retail trade, the food service industry, and other manufacturers across Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.
