In a significant move towards upholding the integrity of the food and drink packaging industry, the newly established FPA Regulatory and Compliance Committee will oversee compliance procedures. This marks a crucial step in ensuring that FPA members adhere to the standards set by the FPA Code of Practice.
Independently managing compliance and proactively addressing regulatory challenges, the committee aims to maintain accountability within the FPA membership and the broader foodservice packaging sector. Executive chair of the FPA, Mark Byrne, expresses his enthusiasm for the committee’s establishment, highlighting the importance of trust and accountability in the industry.
Leading the committee as compliance director is Anne Sutton, a seasoned professional with over 40 years of experience in various aspects of the packaging industry and government affairs. Alongside Anne, the committee includes Nikki Grainge and John Young, both bringing years of expertise in packaging development and industry roles.
Anne Sutton comments on her new role, emphasizing the committee’s commitment to objectivity, compliance processes, and protecting the industry’s reputation. The committee will work closely with members to ensure packaging claims align with the FPA’s Code of Practice and industry standards.
Mark Byrne urges foodservice packaging suppliers to review their websites and marketing materials to ensure compliance with regulations. The committee will hold both members and non-members accountable, emphasizing the importance of truthful and compliant claims in the industry.
