Ravenwood celebrated its most successful show to date at Labelexpo 2023 by unveiling two new machines, the Nobac 40 Vac and the Nobac 1500, on its bespoke built stand.
With increased visitor attendance and a record number of sales leads, Labelexpo 2023 marked a new milestone of success for Ravenwood.
The Nobac 40 Vac flash labeller, in combination with the Nobac 5000A linerless applicator, demonstrated impressive line speeds of 40 metres per minute. As a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to self-adhesive labels, the Nobac 40 Vac offers various mounting options and the choice of a conventional beak apply system.
The Nobac 1500 also garnered significant attention. This linerless top and base labeller replaces similar self-adhesive labellers in its class. With the ability to apply linerless labels in paper and plastic weights ranging from 100 to 200 gsm, the flexible Nobac 1500 is suitable for conventional MAP trays without protrusion. It can be linked to weigh-price labellers and is available as a standalone top labeller or top and base labeller with an integral conveyor.
A star attraction at the show was the Com500 Coater, showcased through a life-sized video wall demonstration. The UK-designed and manufactured machine produces linerless labels by applying silicone and strips of hot melt adhesive to pre-printed labels, resulting in pressure-sensitive label reels that eliminate the need for backing paper. With 40% more labels per roll and requiring 40% less storage space, the linerless technology offers enhanced sustainability and eliminates the need for landfill or recycling programs.
Ravenwood also featured its Nobac 5000A, an automatic flagship linerless applicator, and the Nobac Stacker, an entry-level linerless cutting and stacking machine, ideal for short label runs and manual label application.
Paul Beamish, Ravenwood’s managing director, expressed his satisfaction with the show, highlighting the company’s ability to fill gaps in the linerless market with its innovative technologies. Comparing to the 2019 show, where many visitors were unfamiliar with linerless labels, this year’s attendees already knew about Ravenwood’s technologies and showed great interest. Captured leads increased by 172% compared to 2019, driven by customer demand.
The shift towards linerless labels over self-adhesive options is attributed to factors such as sustainability, cost-efficiency, productivity gains, versatility, aesthetics, and regulatory compliance. As businesses and consumers prioritize these aspects, the popularity of linerless labels is expected to continue to rise.
Ravenwood’s stand at Labelexpo 2023 attracted printers and label converters from across the globe, with a notable presence from Europe, Asia, South Africa, and South America.
