This achievement comes in partnership with ProPrint Group, an approved linerless label printer. The new packaging was produced using the Com500 Coater and applied with the high-speed Nobac 5000L Fresh Produce Linerless Applicator.
This innovative linerless development marks a significant milestone in the UK fresh produce market, introducing a 3×2 (six-pack) linerless apple format. This follows the successful launch of the 2×2 Sassy™ pack, also provided by Mansfield, the parent company of the Kissabel® brand.
Innovative Linerless Packaging for Premium Fruit
Kissabel® Rouge is noted for its vibrant red skin, natural red flesh, and berry-like flavor. It made its UK retail debut on 2 December in an eye-catching plastic-free linerless pack, emphasizing its premium appeal. To meet market demands, the packaging solution was designed to achieve:

ProPrint Group collaborated with Worldwide Fruit, the Kissabel® design team, and Smurfit Westrock to create a durable linerless fruit lid and carton board tray format. This development transitions from the previously launched 4-pack to the new 6-pack configuration. Importantly, all materials are curbside recyclable, thereby supporting sustainability objectives of retailers.
Nobac 5000L: Elevating Efficiency with Low Waste
Central to this project is Ravenwood’s Nobac 5000L fresh produce linerless applicator, designed for precise and efficient application of linerless fruit lids. The successful launch exemplifies the synergy between Ravenwood’s cutting-edge technology and ProPrint Group’s expertise. Two clean trials were swiftly conducted at Ravenwood, achieving optimal setup essential for this seasonal product. Notably, the first production run commenced just seven working days after artwork approval.
