Graphic Packaging International (“Graphic Packaging”), a leading force in sustainable consumer packaging, will introduce two groundbreaking innovations at drinktec 2025 (September 15-19, Messe München, Munich, Germany). These solutions provide beverage brands and producers with fresh methods to enhance premium shelf presence, eliminate shrink film, and maximize operational efficiency in food and drink packaging.

Leveraging its proven technology capabilities, Graphic Packaging will showcase two key innovations: wrap-style paperboard multipacks featuring primary container orientation and a modular multipack system designed to replace shrink film in tertiary packaging, including clip-style solutions. Attendees can view these innovations at the Graphic Packaging booth, Hall C1, C1-321.

The newly designed wrap-style multipacks ensure the primary container maintains consistent orientation throughout the supply chain and onto retail shelves. This improvement not only enhances on-shelf visibility by aligning every can in the same direction, but also eliminates the need for a separate ad panel to cover barcodes. Significantly, this approach reduces paperboard volume by approximately 25 percent compared to traditional wraps with ad panels, supporting the goal of material minimization.

Engineered to operate seamlessly on existing high-speed Marksman™ machines, these new wraps guarantee excellent operational efficiency without sacrificing speed or machine footprint. Moreover, they are ISTA 3E certified, ensuring they meet stringent supply chain demands.

Another exciting development debuting at drinktec 2025 is a versatile family of multipack modules designed to replace shrink film on corrugated trays used for tertiary packaging and distribution. These modules can incorporate paperboard clips (EnviroClip™ or EnviroTop™) for loose bottles and cans or directly place paperboard multipacks into trays. They offer speed and flexibility and are compatible with a diverse range of primary containers and packing configurations. These modules can be integrated with any current tray packer or with Graphic Packaging’s innovative QuikFlex™ TP tray packer, which is built on reliable QuikFlex technology and can handle both corrugated and paperboard trays.

“There’s a lot of talk in the industry about future-ready packaging, but what brands really need are solutions that work right here and now — on their lines, in their supply chains, and on the shelf,” said Steve Gould, director of new business development, global beverage, at Graphic Packaging. “We’re working to move the industry forward in a way that’s practical, scalable, and sustainable, and that’s exactly what these systems represent. They’re smart, adaptable technologies designed to offer real-world gains, whether it’s plastic reduction, material savings, operational efficiency, or shelf appeal. drinktec is where the brightest and best in the beverage industry gather to solve meaningful challenges, and we’re proud to be innovating for change.”
