Anchor Packaging, recognized as the eighth largest plastic packaging thermoformer in North America, is joining forces with Georgia-Pacific, a leader in fiber and tissue product manufacturing. This strategic partnership aims to create synergies that will promote growth and innovation, particularly within the food and beverage packaging sectors.
“This partnership allows us to expand our product portfolio, strengthen our supply chain and accelerate our commitment to innovation,” stated Anchor Packaging President and CEO Jeff Wolff in the news release.
Headquartered in St. Louis, Anchor Packaging operates several facilities in Arkansas, Wisconsin, and Argentina. The company has been under the ownership of TJC since 2019, when it announced a plan to enhance its growth trajectory. Notably, the Hermann family, who founded Anchor in 1963, retains ownership alongside TJC.
“Adding Anchor Packaging to Georgia-Pacific’s portfolio aligns perfectly with our vision to be a preferred partner in providing innovative food and beverage packaging and tableware solutions to our customers,” remarked Dixie President Fernando González in the news release.
In June 2024, Georgia-Pacific commenced operations at a new $425 million Dixie facility in Jackson, Tennessee, producing various items such as plates, bowls, platters, and deep dishes. This marks the first greenfield plant dedicated to Dixie tableware products since 1991. González emphasized that the new facility would help meet the increasing consumer demand for Dixie products.
In 2020, Anchor diversified its offerings by acquiring thermoformer Panoramic. Furthermore, in 2021, it initiated a $21.5 million expansion of its Paragould, Arkansas manufacturing facility, successfully completing the project in 2022.
TJC, formerly known as The Jordan Company, has also invested in other packaging enterprises. For instance, it acquired flexible packaging manufacturer Soteria from private investor Ardian in 2023 and partnered with flexible packaging company Five Star Holding in 2022. Additionally, in 2018, TJC obtained Carlisle FoodService Products (CFS) from Carlisle Companies.
