FiberWise is set to lead the sustainable packaging revolution with its innovative fibre-based trays, providing an eco-friendly alternative to conventional rigid plastic trays commonly used in the food and beverage packaging industry.

This pioneering solution offers multiple benefits, making it the preferred choice for environmentally conscious producers of fresh meat and convenience foods alike. FiberWise will make its debut at Empack in Birmingham.

With over a century of experience in rough moulded fibre technology, FiberWise delivers fresh food trays that minimize environmental impact without sacrificing the effectiveness of existing tray sealing packaging systems.

Constructed from 100% renewable resources, FiberWise significantly reduces plastic usage by 70% when compared to traditional rigid PET or PP plastic trays. This initiative represents a concrete solution for decreasing waste and supporting a circular economy in the food and beverage packaging sector.

One of its standout features is separability, enabling easy recycling of both the fibre and plastic components, thus ensuring that materials can be effectively repurposed.

Thanks to its robust design, FiberWise MAP barrier trays demonstrate excellent machineability. The plug-and-play concept requires minimal or even no investment from producers, allowing the trays to be effortlessly denested and efficiently run at high speeds on existing tray sealer lines, all without the need for new tooling. FiberWise trays are compatible with a variety of standard top film options.

FiberWise presents a viable, eco-friendly alternative with the potential to transform the packaging market over the long term,” says Kati Ørskov, business unit director at Hartmann.
