Fat analysis plays a crucial role in today’s operational landscape, as processors strive to manage costs, maintain consistency, and adhere to regulatory standards. This has become increasingly important amid escalating enforcement of nutrient content claims in the U.S. To support these goals, especially in the realm of food and drink packaging, Eagle Product Inspection has launched its advanced FA3 Series Fat Analysis (FA) systems.

Utilizing dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) technology, Eagle’s FA3 systems provide precise measurements of fat content and calculate the chemical lean (CL) of meat products. By delivering accurate data, processors can ensure that nutrition labels are compliant with U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) guidelines. Furthermore, reliable fat analysis mitigates the risk of discrepancies between declared and actual fat levels, protecting brand integrity.

The FA Series, which features the FA3/M and FA3/C models, offers advantages that extend beyond regulatory compliance. By ensuring that batches meet target specifications on the first attempt, processors can minimize rework, enhance product consistency and quality, and optimize their existing inventory. This is particularly relevant in the context of food and drink sustainable packaging.

The built-in multifunctionality of the FA3 systems significantly boosts return on investment. They not only perform precise fat measurements but also seamlessly conduct food safety and quality checks. By identifying and eliminating physical contaminants that could lead to recalls or consumer harm, these systems offer enhanced security. Robust construction enables operation in demanding washdown environments, making them applicable for a wide variety of red meat and poultry products—whether fresh, chilled, frozen, or packaged.

  • FA3/M – Delivers accurate fat measurement to +/-1 CL and contaminant detection in fresh, chilled, frozen, and hot-boned loose bulk meat. It is also effective for frozen or tempered meat blocks and unwrapped meat conveyed in plastic crates.
  • FA3/C – Provides inline fat measurement to +/-CL and contaminant detection for packaged products in formats such as plastic crates, cartons, and vacuum-packed blocks.

By integrating precision fat analysis with effective contaminant detection, Eagle’s FA3 Series empowers meat processors to achieve compliance, safeguard brand integrity, and optimize yields effectively. In a competitive market, these advantages can distinguish organizations committed to excellence in food and drink packaging.
