DS Smith, a prominent global provider of fibre-based sustainable packaging solutions, has proudly secured Silver at the esteemed ‘Golden Walnut’ (Golden Noot) Awards, thanks to their groundbreaking product, ‘DS Smith Lift Up’.
This innovative packaging solution is designed to replace plastic shrink wrap for multipacks of plastic bottles, offering a corrugated cardboard alternative aimed specifically at customers in the beverage sector. This development represents a significant advancement towards sustainability in food and drink packaging. The ‘Golden Walnut’ Awards, organized by the Netherlands Packaging Centre (NVC), are renowned for celebrating pioneering innovations within the packaging industry.
‘DS Smith Lift Up’ features an ergonomic corrugated cardboard carrying clip and a paper band. This fully recyclable, minimalist design has demonstrated its effectiveness on high-speed production lines while providing excellent brand visibility and convenience for consumers. The jury commended DS Smith for its comprehensive approach to packaging innovation, seamlessly integrating sustainability, functionality, and brand experience.

The awards ceremony for the 32nd edition of the Golden Note took place on Thursday, 10th October 2024, at the A’DAM Tower in Amsterdam. During this celebratory evening, hosted by Francesca Vanthielen, the Golden Note, along with silver and bronze awards, was presented to the most competitive packaging innovations of the year.
